A NEW CULTURE TO DISCOVER
Since 2011, I have been traveling to some of the most iconic countries in Asia and Africa. But now, I am looking for something different, so I decided to change for once, look beyond the African tribes, Hinduism or Buddhism, and search for new unknown cultures.
Besides Morocco, I have never been in any other Arabic country. I always felt very curious about these countries and their magnetic and ancient cultures. Doubtlessly, these countries are very reach in traditions, culture and history, so I thought it was the right time to visit one of them.
From the very beginning, I decided to visit Iran for two weeks, yes! I felt very interest about its cities, friendly people and culture too. However, I finally had to reduce my days off, so I had to find a smaller country.
So, I finally chose The Kingdom of Jordan, one of the most beautiful countries in Middle East. Jordan is a country full of interesting places, with an extraordinary history. Although Jordan is a small country, it has amazing and ancient places to visit, specially, PETRA, which is one of the seven wonders of the world. If you visit Jordan, don’t forget to get your JORDAN PASS!
Before to start researching about Jordan and all its highlights to visit while traveling, I decided to read about its history. Jordan is located in the Middle East of Asia, a strategic geographical point in the middle of the cradle of the three main religions in the world: Catholicism, Islamism and Judaism. The most ancient tribes and civilizations in the world have passed by Jordan across the centuries: exoduses, wars, the silk road, religions, adventurous, slave traders, languages and dialects, and much more.
To me it was an opportunity to visit a little part of the European culture foundations (besides Greece, the Roman Empire, and much more), as part of our roots and blood come from Middle east of Asia.
CONNECTING CULTURES THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY
I want to be the ambassador of everyone. I feel the need and responsibility to reveal the secrets of all cultures and countries I visit. To me, photography is just a simple tool to connect people from all over the world through feelings and everyday life scenes.
Despite the distance between countries, I want to show how similar we are living in different places. Remember that prejudice is a mental barrier, and believe me or not, far beyond of that, it is the real world.
PHOTOGRAPHY GEAR WITH FUJIFILM
I always travel with my favorite Fujifilm two prime lenses: the XF16MM F1.4 R WR and the XF35MM F1.4 R. Both offers me the perfect match to travel. The 16mm is perfect for narrow streets, indoor places, street markets and also to include more stories and elements in one shot.
The 35mm is also good for streets but it also gives me the perfect focal length for portraits, as I can be enough close to a stranger without disturbing.
Sometimes I get a bit bored of changing lenses all the time. That’s the reason why I am thinking to buy a second body to have both lenses attached and ready for shooting. Besides the fact that I protect the camera’s sensor without changing lenses, having two bodies would give me the opportunity to made the most of any situation. If I buy a second-hand X-T1 or X-Pro1 will be the perfect match for my beautiful FUJIFILM X-T2.
